Hytale Update 7 Part 4: New Goblin Content, Ability & Modifier Runestones, and Chapter 1 Changes

Hytale’s Update 7 Part 4 is now available in pre-release, bringing the second wave of Chapter 1 content, new Runestones, major combat adjustments, reworked creatures, dozens of new music tracks and, finally, French localization.
But perhaps the most interesting part of this update is what Hypixel Studios isn’t telling us.
Players can already head to the Forgotten Temple to begin discovering the new Chapter 1 content and, according to the developers, a significant part of what awaits there has deliberately been left out of the patch notes.
We’ll let you discover the rest for yourself.
Disclaimer: According to Simon, no bosses or dungeons yet.

So here are the biggest changes in Hytale Update 7 Part 4!
The second wave of Chapter 1 has arrived
Chapter 1 continues to take shape.
With Part 4, Hytale introduces its second wave of upcoming Chapter 1 content. Players on the pre-release branch can immediately start interacting with it by visiting the Forgotten Temple.
Alternatively, the developers suggest waiting a few days and simply seeing what happens.
That wording is especially interesting: several encounters and surprises included in this update have intentionally not been documented.
In other words, the Forgotten Temple is now one of the places worth watching closely.
Chapter 1 is still actively being developed, so mechanics, balance and content may continue to change before its full release.

Hytale is now available in French 🇫🇷
A particularly welcome addition for the French-speaking community : French has officially been added to Hytale’s available languages.
For a game with such a large French community, this is an important step toward making Hytale more accessible ahead of future major content releases.
And yes, that means you can finally explore Orbis "en français". 🥖

Six new Runestones join the game
The Runestone system continues to expand significantly in Part 4.
Runestones have also been cleaned up visually and are now named directly after their ability. Tooltips will clearly distinguish between Ability Runestones and Modifier Runestones.
Ability Runestones are now Rare, while Modifier Runestones are Uncommon.
Chain Hook

The new Chain Hook Ability Runestone lets you throw a hook at an enemy, damaging them before pulling them toward you.
It opens up some interesting possibilities for aggressive melee builds or simply dragging enemies into a vulnerable position.
Charged Shot

Charged Shot allows players to channel a frost projectile.
The longer you charge it, the more powerful its effects become, dealing damage while also slowing the target.
Expansion

The Expansion Modifier Runestone increases an ability’s area of effect by a massive 100%.
That could make certain AoE abilities significantly more effective when combined with the right build.
Extended Duration

Extended Duration increases the duration of an Ability Runestone.
Simple, but potentially extremely useful for abilities based around persistent effects.
Fork

The Fork Modifier Runestone causes projectiles to split into additional projectiles.
Those secondary projectiles cannot fork again, but the modifier could still create some very interesting combinations with projectile-based abilities.
Ricochet

Finally, Ricochet makes projectiles bounce between enemies.
Combined with Fork and other modifiers, Hytale’s Runestone system is starting to show just how much build customization it may eventually offer.
Combat feels faster
Part 4 also introduces a substantial number of combat balance changes.
Attacks using swords, daggers, maces and battleaxes are now roughly 15% faster, making melee combat more responsive.
Movement penalties while attacking have also been standardized across several weapon types.
Crossbows, meanwhile, received significant damage reductions, particularly the Iron and Ancient Steel Crossbows.
Two existing Runestone abilities have also been adjusted:
Ground Slam deals considerably more damage and launches enemies higher, but now has a longer cooldown.
Wind Strike deals less damage, while gaining a shorter cooldown and fewer weapon restrictions.
These changes suggest that the developers are still actively experimenting with combat pacing ahead of Chapter 1.
Food and healing have been reworked
Healing during combat should now feel quite different.
Taking damage no longer interrupts eating food or drinking potions.
Players are also slowed by only 25% while consuming something, compared with 60% previously.
Food now takes 2.5 seconds to consume, while several basic foods — including Bread, Popcorn and Cheese — have had their instant healing reduced.
Raw fruit, vegetables and crops now grant a small Health regeneration effect for one minute.
Cooked food buffs, meanwhile, now last six minutes, including bonuses to Health regeneration, maximum Health and maximum Stamina.
Overall, food is becoming less about emergency instant healing and more about preparation and longer-lasting buffs.
Goblins and Void creatures have been improved
Enemies are receiving plenty of attention too.
Non-Elite Chapter 1 enemies can now flinch when taking damage, temporarily interrupting their attacks.
They eventually become resistant if repeatedly staggered, preventing players from permanently stun-locking them.
Void-aligned creatures have also received balancing changes, new visuals or new attacks.
Goblins continue to get more personality as well.
They now have improved prowling animations, can sprint, run backwards and behave more naturally while moving around the world.
The former Skeleton Elite has also been renamed the Revenant Guardian, complete with updated equipment and animations.
World Events can now be disabled in Creative
Creative players and creators receive a useful new option.
A new World Events setting has been added to Creative Worlds, allowing events to be enabled or disabled entirely.
New Creative Worlds will have them disabled by default.
They can also be toggled using the /worldevent command.
This should be particularly useful for builders, map creators and server developers who want more control over their environments.
39 new exploration tracks
Part 4 also massively expands Hytale’s soundtrack.
The update introduces:
5 new exploration tracks for Zone 2
10 new exploration tracks for Zone 3
24 new exploration tracks for Zone 4
That’s 39 new exploration tracks in total.
Zone 4 caves and sewers now have their own music too, while the Hookshot and Scrap Glider have received new sound effects.
For a game built so heavily around exploration, this is a surprisingly substantial addition.
Plenty of quality-of-life, performance and stability improvements
As usual, Part 4 also includes a long list of fixes and technical improvements.
Among the more noticeable ones:
Opening the world map should no longer temporarily stall the game.
Teleports and respawns should no longer be delayed while terrain is being generated elsewhere.
Scaled creatures once again have correctly scaled hitboxes.
The Mod Browser will ignore broken or oversized images instead of attempting to render them.
Sunshafts should no longer disappear after changing the time of day.
Several crashes related to chunks and unrecognized interactions have been fixed.
There are also extensive changes aimed specifically at modders and plugin developers, including NPC systems, spawning, world events, interactions, chunk APIs and asset handling.
Hytale’s underlying creator tools are clearly continuing to evolve alongside the game itself.
Update 7 keeps getting bigger
Update 7 has gradually become much more than a collection of small pre-release improvements.
With Chapter 1 content arriving in multiple waves, an expanding Runestone system, increasingly polished combat and creatures, and continuous improvements to Hytale’s creator tools, the foundations of the game are becoming noticeably more complete.
And Part 4 may still have a few surprises left.
If you’re playing the pre-release, head to the Forgotten Temple, because not everything added in this update is written in the patch notes. 👀
